Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to put down a deposit for my tattoo appointment?
Yes, all tattoo appointments require a non-refundable deposit. I charge a $150 deposit. The deposit will go towards the tattoo and will be deducted from the last session. Rescheduling is no problem, but rescheduling less than 24 hours in advance will result in a forfeit of your deposit. No call/no shows will also result in a forfeit of the deposit.
How much does a tattoo cost?
The cost of your tattoo will depend on multiple factors, such as size, placement and color vs. black and grey. I charge $200/hour and set a 3 hour minimum for appointments.
How long will the tattoo take?
This also depends on size, placement, and color or black and grey. I typically work around 4 hour sessions, but that can vary. A lot of larger scale projects will require multiple sessions, but some designs only require one session.
How long do I have to wait in between sessions?
I like to set at least one month in between sessions to allow plenty of healing time. We can't tattoo over skin that is still going through the healing process. We can wait longer in between sessions if that is better for you, but a month is ideal.
Can I get a tattoo while pregnant?
No, getting tattooed at any point during your pregnancy is not recommended or allowed. I also don't think it's a great idea to get a tattoo while breastfeeding, but some artists will leave that up to you.
Is getting a tattoo safe?
It is safe as long as you go to a reputable artist in a professional setting that follows all recommended safety precautions. I use disposable supplies and sterilize between every session. Infection is possible with any open wound, but as long as you follow the aftercare procedure, it is unlikely. You can see my aftercare tab for more information.
Can I go swimming after getting tattooed? What about the sun?
You must wait until your tattoo is fully healed before you can go swimming or submerge under water. I also recommend keeping it out of the sun until it's healed. Usually after about 2 weeks, you're safe. Once the tattoo is healed, sun screen will help preserve the longevity of your tattoo. The sun exposure will cause fading if your tattoo isn't protected. Keep this in mind while driving because the sun can still affect your tattoo through the windshield.
How old do I have to be to get tattooed?
In the state of Texas, you need to be 18 years old without exception. Parental consent can't be accepted for minors.
What do I need to bring to my appointment?
You will need to have a photo ID with date of birth (driver's license, passport etc). I recommend bringing snacks or eating well before your tattoo appointment. You are welcome to bring your own pillow and blanket.
